Adam Schatz - Rest in Peace

As I sit in my engine room, I wonder Why? Adam was a true treasure. I was blessed with the presence of Adam in my life from the time he was just a little guy. I am proud to say I always thought of Adam as one of my sons. Adam brought such joy to my life. He kept me in line and made sure I was ok. Adam spent alot of time with me out at my shop. Adam always made sure my showroom was always different. He loved to change it around- for no reason at all - other than to just change it. My refrigerator will never be the same without Adam. He always had this super hot, eye burning, nose buring hot sauce- that he loved to put on everything he ate. The hot sauce will go untouched as, I know my stomach can not handle it. Somehow every time he ate a Subway sandwich, he had the inability to get the wrapper in the trash can- they would always end up on the floor. The dog sure enjoyed the leftovers.

Adam was always there for me. We spent many Saturday nights at Villa Jerverone, the local pizza place. There was nothing on the menu that we had not tried. I always looked forward to those nights. Adam was such a strong and kind man. He was truly a unique and special young man. His glowing smile was contagious to anyone that met him. I am blessed to have known Adam and I am forever grateful for him. No words will ever fill the emptiness that I feel for the loss of someone I have always thought of as a son. I hope he realizes how inspirational he was and how many people were inspired by him, inlcuding me. His legacy will live on in all that race and set out to accomplish their goals. He had all the qualities that a true racer would have. He exemplified the meaning of sportsmanship and excellence. He was a champion in all he set out to do. In such a short amount of time, he did make a difference. I think that is what we all set out to do- to make a difference in peoples lives and make connections and memories that will last forever.

I know that Adam is talking racing right now with all the Greats! Trading secrets, strategies, and stories of the track. As we all deal with the loss, we need to remember his vibrant spirit and his zest for life and his will to excel at everything he did.
Adam we love you and we will always keep you with us.
Forever in our hearts - Schatz #23

Jim Perry
